Roos Peltenburg (1994, The Netherlands) is a photographer whose work primarily focuses on the relationship between clothing and the body. Her fascination with this theme began during her studies at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion in 2018. The tension between the physical body and the forms imposed by clothing has become the core of her practice. In 2022, she graduated from the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam, where she further developed and deepened her visual language.
‘My work emerges from an exploratory approach in which I play with unexpected compositions, perspectives, and materials. Through my images, I invite viewers to look differently at the everyday and to reflect on how we adapt and perceive the body. In a world where everything is becoming increasingly malleable, our self-image and identity are also influenced. This constant potential for change raises questions about control and the desire for perfection. My work revolves around transformation, the moment when forms shift and something new comes into being. Alongside photography, collage techniques are also an integral part of my practice. By exploring materials, a two-dimensional image can transform into a sculptural form within space.’
